Senior AI Engineer

As a Senior Engineer at Rematiq, you will own a technical product end-to-end — from system design and architecture to operations, iteration, and business impact.

We’re looking for someone senior, highly autonomous, and unusually strong at turning ambiguity into working systems.

• Real Ownership: You will own a strategic product area end-to-end • Agent-First Engineering: You’ll work at the frontier of how software gets built when agents become part of the core loop • Direct Business Impact: Your work will shape product direction and drive real revenue • Meaningful Mission: You’ll help leading healthcare companies move faster — and support more medical innovation in the process • Strong Customers: We already work with leading healthcare companies, including Novartis • Small Team, High Agency: You’ll work closely with founders in an ambitious, execution-focused environment • Tools That Match the Ambition: Large token budget, real freedom to experiment, and the chance to push modern coding agents to their limits • Compensation: Competitive salary and meaningful equity Find more English Speaking Jobs in Germany on Arbeitnow

Rematiq helps healthcare and life sciences companies move faster through complex regulatory and quality workflows with AI. Our mission is to reduce the complexity that slows medical innovation down and help more products reach patients faster. We already work with leading healthcare and life sciences companies, including Novartis, solving real regulatory and operational problems in a highly complex industry. As a Senior AI Engineer (Agentic Systems), you’ll own a new technical product area end-to-end and build the agentic systems behind it. You’ll design systems where AI agents can write and review code, debug failures, analyse data, and support day-to-day operations, while you set the technical direction, make the critical decisions, and remain accountable for quality and reliability. You’ll work closely with product, domain experts, and the wider engineering team to turn complex regulatory requirements into reliable, intuitive product experiences. Because we operate in a highly regulated industry, correctness, traceability, and reliability are central to how we build. We believe in the value of in-person collaboration and work in a hybrid setup, with the team coming together in our office in the heart of Berlin-Mitte typically four days per week. What You’ll Do As a Senior Engineer at Rematiq, you will own a technical product end-to-end — from system design and architecture to operations, iteration, and business impact. You will: • Own the system, infrastructure, and agents behind a new product area from first version to scaled operation • Build agent-driven workflows where agents write code, review code, debug failures, analyze data, and support operational reliability • Design the agent factory itself: workflows, skills, hooks, guardrails, review loops, and escalation paths • Make pragmatic technical decisions that directly shape product quality, speed, and revenue impact • Build robust backend systems around messy real-world inputs, changing requirements, and operational complexity • Create the internal tooling and control surfaces needed to operate the system with confidence • Work closely with the founders and the wider team to turn a strategic direction into a real product • Push forward how software engineering works in practice when agents become part of the core development loop What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone senior, highly autonomous, and unusually strong at turning ambiguity into working systems. You likely have: • Significant experience as a software engineer in a startup or similarly high-ownership environment • A strong track record of owning systems or products end-to-end, not just contributing to one part of them • Deep hands-on experience with agent-driven development or coding-agent workflows • Strong backend engineering skills and good judgment around scalable, reliable systems • Experience building around brittle external dependencies, automation, scraping, data pipelines, or operational workflows • Excellent taste and technical judgment — you know when something is robust, when it is fragile, and when agent-generated output is just slop • High agency, strong prioritization skills, and the ability to operate with very little structure • An ex-founder mentality or the mindset of an early engineer who likes real ownership and responsibility • A desire to build something strategically important and make decisions that matter This role is a strong fit for people who have been: • founders • very early startup engineers • senior builders who have owned messy systems with real business impact Why Join Rematiq? • Real Ownership: You will own a strategic product area end-to-end • Agent-First Engineering: You’ll work at the frontier of how software gets built when agents become part of the core loop • Direct Business Impact: Your work will shape product direction and drive real revenue • Meaningful Mission: You’ll help leading healthcare companies move faster — and support more medical innovation in the process • Strong Customers: We already work with leading healthcare companies, including Novartis • Small Team, High Agency: You’ll work closely with founders in an ambitious, execution-focused environment • Tools That Match the Ambition: Large token budget, real freedom to experiment, and the chance to push modern coding agents to their limits • Compensation: Competitive salary and meaningful equity Find more English Speaking Jobs in Germany on Arbeitnow Tech
