Business Development Specialist

Powering Great Work We started as the place to find a trusted trade. Now, as we shape the future of home improvement, we're building the tech to transform that landscape for everyone - better products, smarter data, AI where it actually helps - so trades can spend less time on admin and consumers can find someone they trust, first time. That's Powering Great Work, and it's why every team here exists: 🔧 Trades spend less time on admin and more on winning work and growing their business 🏠 Homeowners get a trusted trade, first time, every time 🚀 We get to build products that change homes and lives across the country As our next Business Development Representative, you'll sit right at the top of our sales funnel. You'll start the conversations that turn cold prospects into real opportunities for our account management in our sales team, helping more tradespeople grow their business through Checkatrade. If you get a kick out of the chase of a prospect and want to turn that into a career in sales, this is a good place to start. The job, unfiltered: • Hunt down and research potential non-member trades across multiple channels, then work out whether they're a genuine fit for Checkatrade. • Pick up the phone (and send emails) to start conversations that uncover what prospects actually need and where it hurts. • Make Checkatrade's value land clearly, qualify the sales opportunity and quickly, in a way that sparks real curiosity. • Warm leads up through the early stages of their journey, then hand them over cleanly to account executives to re-qualify and close. • Keep Salesforce spotless, with accurate, up-to-date records of every conversation and lead. • Team up with sales executives and other teams to swap insights, sharpen your outreach and convert more of the leads you find. The fit: • 0-2 years' experience in business development, lead generation, client outreach or another customer-facing role. • A results-driven streak, with the resilience to keep finding and qualifying new opportunities even when the first few calls don't land. • Communication that builds rapport fast and gets your point across clearly and concisely. • A proactive, organised approach to managing your pipeline. • Experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM is useful, but if you're keen to learn, we'll train you up. (Don't self-select out because you don't tick every box. We'd rather meet you.) What you get 💰 Competitive salary, annual bonus & equity scheme 🩺 Health, wellbeing and learning support 🚲 Gym membership, Smart Tech Scheme, Cycle Scheme 🎂 Birthday/special day leave, buy & sell holiday scheme ❤️ 1 week's paid charity leave, and more How this goes • Screening call with one of our Talent Acquisition Partners • Second stage interview with our Head of Sales SMB and Sales Operations Manager • Third stage interview with our VP of Sales Not this one? Stay close anyway. Join the Talent Community and we'll ping you the second something better fits. About us We’re Checkatrade – the UK’s leading platform for finding a tradesperson.
