Lyceum College invites suitably qualified and passionate academics to apply for Sessional Lecturers (Module Leader) opportunities within our newly launched Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching qualification. We are seeking dynamic, student-centred, and academically grounded individuals who are committed to excellence in teaching and learning within a distance higher education environment. Available Modules (NQF Level 5) Applications are invited for the following modules: Foundational and Developmental Modules • Academic Literacy • English • Conversational Afrikaans • Conversational isiZulu • Conversational Sesotho • Mathematics • Life Skills • Critical Thinking • Digital Literacy • Afrikaans • isiZulu Education Foundation Modules • Education Studies 1: History and Context of Education in South Africa • Educational Psychology 1: An Introduction to Early Childhood Education Teaching and Learning Methodology Modules • English Home Language Teaching and Learning 1 • Afrikaans Home Language Teaching and Learning 1 • isiZulu Home Language Teaching and Learning 1 • Life Skills Teaching and Learning 1 Teaching Practice Modules • Teaching Practice 1 • Teaching Practice 2 Requirements Minimum Requirements ​ Applicants must possess: • A Master’s degree (minimum) in the relevant field of specialisation • At least three (3) years’ higher education lecturing experience • Demonstrable experience in assessment design, marking, moderation, and student support • Strong digital literacy and the ability to teach effectively in a distance learning environment • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • A demonstrated commitment to student success and academic quality A doctoral qualification and previous module leadership experience will be considered advantageous. Core Responsibilities Successful candidates will be expected to: • Deliver a minimum of four (4) classes per semester • Facilitate engaging and academically rigorous teaching and learning experiences • Design formative and summative assessments aligned to module outcomes and NQF standards • Mark assessments and provide constructive, developmental feedback to students • Conduct student consultations and academic support sessions • Participate in moderation and quality assurance processes • Support at-risk students and contribute to student success initiatives • Contribute to curriculum enhancement and continuous improvement processes • Participate in faculty and academic governance activities as required The role calls for academics who combine academic excellence with responsiveness, professionalism, and student-centred engagement in a modern distance learning environment.
