Global Director of Product

Help us use technology to make a big green dent in the universe! Kraken powers some of the most innovative global developments in energy. We create the technology that redefines utilities and unlocks a new energy system of the future. By optimising renewable generation, building a more intelligent grid, and empowering utilities to deliver an exceptional customer experience, our operating system is transforming the industry worldwide. It’s an incredibly exciting time to work in energy. Join us on our mission to improve the lives of ONE BILLION humans within the decade and shape a cleaner, better future for everyone. We are looking for a Global Director of Product for Flex to lead the product strategy, direction, and organisation behind Kraken's global flexibility platform. Kraken Flex connects distributed energy resources to energy markets at scale — operating across Liberalised Markets, where we trade flexibility directly, and Regulated Markets, where we partner with utilities and DSOs to deliver grid services. This is a pivotal executive product role at the heart of Kraken's fastest-growing business unit. You will own the product direction, roadmap, culture, and delivery effectiveness of the shared Flex platform — the core set of capabilities that both business units depend on to compete and grow. Your mandate is to evolve the Flex platform into a scalable, differentiated capability that creates long-term strategic advantage: meaningfully ahead of anything the flexibility market has built.     🏡 Where you'll fit in: You will lead the product organisation across all shared Flex platform squads — the teams building the core capabilities that underpin Liberalised and Regulated Markets propositions globally. You will work with the VP of Engineering for Flex, together accountable for the quality, culture, and strategic direction of the Flex technology organisation. The shared platform sits at the intersection of two distinct business models, multiple geographies, and a constantly evolving set of market requirements. The central challenge of this role is making the right calls about what the platform should build, in what sequence, and why — while holding the tension between serving immediate business needs and protecting long-term platform integrity.     🚀 What you'll own: • Product Strategy and Roadmap: Own the product vision and roadmap across all Flex platform squads. Ensure it is genuinely aligned with Flex's long-term strategy and the priorities of both business units — not a backlog of requests from the loudest stakeholder. • Cross-BU Alignment: Work alongside Proposition Product Leaders across Liberalised and Regulated Markets to identify what the platform should build to unlock their roadmaps, and which capabilities developed in proposition teams are ready to become shared platform features. Make those calls with clarity and conviction. • Platform Strategy: Identify and drive capabilities emerging from proposition teams. Ensure the shared platform evolves toward reusable, composable architecture — balancing immediate delivery needs with long-term platform coherence. • Product Culture and Practice: Build and sustain a high-performing product organisation. Define how teams discover, prioritise, and deliver. Mentor Product Managers across Flex, set the bar for product excellence, and create the conditions for PMs to meet it. • Competitive Positioning: Maintain a clear picture of where Flex has capability gaps versus alternatives in the market. Own the plans to close those gaps before they become liabilities. • Long-Term Differentiation: Look beyond the current roadmap. Identify technology and product investments that create durable, hard-to-replicate advantage for Kraken Flex, and work with Flex GMs to prioritise them. 🧠 What you'll bring: Essential Experience • Executive Product Leadership: Proven experience building and leading product organisations — not just managing product teams. You've shaped culture, developed people, and elevated the function around you. • Platform Product Expertise: Deep experience in platform or shared infrastructure product contexts — building capabilities that serve multiple internal customers with competing priorities, without losing coherence or quality. • Commercial Acumen: A track record of connecting product decisions to business outcomes and making the case for long-term platform investment in commercial terms. You can represent product strategy credibly to executive leadership. • Engineering Partnership: Genuine experience co-owning roadmaps and co-building organisations with engineering leadership as a peer — not a handoff relationship. • Organisational Complexity: Demonstrated ability to operate across multiple business units, market models, or geographies — making decisions that serve the whole without losing sight of the specific. Leadership & Mindset • You possess a rare combination of strategic clarity and operational discipline — you can define where the platform needs to be in three years while staying close enough to delivery to know when something's going wrong today. • You are a product leader who builds organisations, not just products. The PMs around you get better because of you. • You thrive in environments where the answer isn't obvious. You can hold the tension between serving immediate business needs and protecting long-term platform integrity, and make good decisions in that space. • You embody the ability to "think long-term and ship next week."     ⭐️ Bonus points: • Experience in energy trading, utilities, or distributed energy resources used for grid flexibility. • Experience building platforms that serve both internal proposition teams and external partners or customers. • Prior experience scaling a product organisation through a period of rapid, sustained growth. Are you ready for a career with us? We want to ensure you have the right tools and environment to unleash your potential. I
