Job description

This Opportunity WSP is seeking a Lifecycle Project Manager- Power & Energy (Remote) for our Power & Energy Program Management Team in Cottonwood Heights, UT. You must have the ability to travel to a WSP and/or Client office for periodic face-to-face meetings. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing technical, schedules, quality, and financial aspects of Power and Energy Transmission and Distribution lines, Substation, and Communications site projects with a focus on SCADA and Telecomm as well as managing and developing client relationships. Responsible for the overall performance of assigned project(s) that are of moderate size/complexity and/or local/regional in scope, and includes oversight for financial, technical, client satisfaction, quality, safety, and schedule. Ensures that responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle (proposal phase, project startup and planning, project execution, reporting, and project closeout) are adhered to, delivered, and audited with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable corporate standards for safety, execution, profitability, and operational purpose. Your Impact • Oversee and monitor the planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout of multiple concurrent transmission line and substation projects of significant size, complexity, and strategic importance. • Provide senior-level project management oversight for scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, risk, procurement, construction readiness, commissioning, and project closeout activities. • Serve as the primary point of accountability for project delivery, proactively identifying issues, driving decisions, escalating risks, and ensuring alignment with client expectations, contractual requirements, and WSP standards. • Develop, maintain, and communicate integrated project schedules, cost forecasts, performance metrics, and executive-level reporting to support transparent decision-making and portfolio visibility. • Manage project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, earned value analysis, change management, invoice review, cost control, and margin protection. • Lead client engagement and relationship development through proactive communication, issue resolution, strategic alignment, and consistent delivery of high-quality project outcomes. • Direct and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, project controls, procurement, construction, environmental, permitting, vendors, contractors, and client stakeholders. • Establish and maintain project governance practices, including risk registers, decision logs, action tracking, change control, contract compliance, quality reviews, and audit-ready documentation. • Guide technical review requirements, resource planning, staffing assignments, and QA/QC expectations to ensure deliverables are complete, accurate, timely, and aligned with project objectives. • Mentor project managers, assistant project managers, and project team members by sharing best practices, reinforcing accountability, and supporting consistent project delivery across the program. • Exercise sound judgment and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, client commitments, and project conduct while adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business and client needs. Who You Are Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related field within the Power & Energy market; equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience may be considered. • 7+ years of relevant post-education experience, including significant project management responsibility within the Power Delivery, transmission, substation, utility, or related infrastructure industry. • Demonstrated experience managing medium to large, complex transmission line and/or substation projects for electric utility clients, including investor-owned utilities, cooperatives, municipal utilities, independent power producers, or similar organizations. • Sound understanding of project delivery process within the A/E/C industry and well-defined background and experience in project management. • Well-developed analytical and organizational skills, with business acumen to bridge the business and project management. • Competent critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make assessments and calculations involving the application of project management principles, with a sound understanding of intent, impact, and optimal outcomes. • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally. • Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and adjusting readily to the changing prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. • Works independently with minimal oversight and provides guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC. • Competent with technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint), technology, spreadsheets, and PM tools. • Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating resources and assertively directing consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and others to complete tasks competently and efficiently. • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. • Ability to travel periodically to WSP offices, client offices, project sites, or other locations as required by project and business needs. • This position is subject to and con
