Responsibilities
As Material Inspector you inspect and verify the materials delivered to and used on site against the approved material submittals and the project specifications, on RCRC's behalf. The role is site-based and reports to the Materials Engineer / Quality Manager. Your inspection records and the test results you compile form part of the quality evidence RCRC relies on when accepting the completed works.
· Inspect materials delivered to site against approved material submittals, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and the project specifications, before they are used in the works.
· Witness sampling and field tests, and coordinate with the contractor's and third-party testing laboratories on test schedules and results.
· Compile material test reports and maintain complete, properly archived material-inspection records.
· Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for non-conforming materials and track corrective actions through to verified close-out.
· Apply standardised inspection checklists, protocols and reporting templates consistently across sites, and complete inspections to the agreed schedule.
· Support the Materials Engineer with trend analysis and reporting, flagging recurring material defects early so they can be addressed before they spread across the programme.
· Support close-out by checking that material warranty certificates meet the contract requirements and that outstanding material inspection items are resolved before handover.
Requirements
· Diploma or degree in Civil or Materials Engineering.
· Over 7 years' relevant experience with a degree, or 12 years' relevant experience in lieu of a degree (RCRC staff Category D).
· Hands-on material inspection, sampling and testing experience on construction or infrastructure works.
· Working knowledge of site QA/QC: material submittals and approvals, ITPs, inspection checklists, NCRs and test records.
· Strong written and verbal communication in English and/or Arabic; both is an advantage.
