The Senior Software Engineer is a hands-on technical leader on a small, high-impact engineering team responsible for designing, building, operating, and continuously improving critical business applications, platform services, and integrations. This role is expected to contribute across the full technology stack, including user-facing applications, APIs, data models, asynchronous workflows, distributed integrations, messaging infrastructure, and production support. The position requires strong full stack development experience, deep backend engineering instincts, and the ability to make sound technical decisions in message-driven and distributed system environments. The Senior Software Engineer will help shape technical direction, deliver business-critical capabilities, mentor other engineers, and take operational ownership of assigned systems and functional areas. The ideal candidate is curious, adaptable, AI-aware, and eager to learn and responsibly apply emerging tools and practices that improve engineering speed, software quality, and team effectiveness. COMPETENCIES REQUIRED • Action Oriented – Takes on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm. • Optimizes Work Processes – Knows the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement. • Collaborates – Builds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives. • Courage – Steps up to address difficult issues and says what needs to be said. • Situational Adaptability – Adapts approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations. • Customer Focus – Builds strong customer relationships and delivers customer-centric solutions. • Drives Results – Consistently achieves results, even under tough circumstances. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Design, develop, and maintain full stack software solutions across front-end applications, backend services, APIs, integrations, and supporting data systems. • Develop scalable, maintainable software using C# and .NET across both internal business systems and customer-facing applications. • Build and enhance message-driven and distributed systems using patterns and frameworks such as NServiceBus, including asynchronous processing, command and event handling, sagas, durable workflows, and message handlers where appropriate. • Design for distributed system reliability, including retries, idempotency, deduplication, eventual consistency, observability, resiliency, dead-letter handling, graceful failure handling, and recovery strategies. • Extend existing microservices and create new APIs, service endpoints, background processing components, data workflows, and integration services that improve business capability and operational efficiency. • Create and evolve data schemas, persistence models, service contracts, message contracts, and integration patterns across multiple storage and communication mechanisms. • Make pragmatic architecture and design decisions related to service boundaries, data flow, scalability, performance, maintainability, security, and operational simplicity. • Write and maintain unit, integration, and automated regression tests to ensure quality, stability, and confidence in delivered solutions. • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve defects, production issues, and performance bottlenecks across application, service, infrastructure, data, and integration layers. • Take operational ownership of assigned systems and functional areas, including monitoring, support, root cause analysis, ongoing optimization, and long-term stewardship. • Partner with Service Desk, business stakeholders, architects, engineers, and support teams to respond to production issues, support requests, and workflow-impacting incidents. • Participate actively in agile development meetings, technical design sessions, code reviews, cross-functional planning discussions, and presentations. • Provide code review feedback focused on correctness, maintainability, testability, operational reliability, security, and architectural fit. • Mentor and guide other team members through collaboration, design guidance, technical leadership, and hands-on support in delivery work. • Stay current with emerging engineering practices, including AI-assisted development tools, and apply them thoughtfully and responsibly to improve engineering effectiveness, software quality, security, and team productivity. • Build and maintain strong knowledge and understanding of MasterCorp business processes, operational workflows, system interactions, and terminology. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and professional experience. • Seven (7) or more years of professional software development experience, with strong hands-on expertise in C# and .NET. • Proven experience building, enhancing, and supporting production-grade full stack applications and backend services. • Strong experience with distributed systems, service-oriented architecture, message-based or event-driven design, and asynchronous workflow patterns. • Experience implementing asynchronous workflows and inter-service communication using technologies such as NServiceBus, service buses, queues,
